Boy drowns in Shitlakkhya

A teenage boy drowned in the river Shitlakkhya in Bandar upazila of Narayanganj yesterday.

Saiful Islam Shimanto, 14, son of Nayeem Mia, was a class VIII student of BM Union High School.

He along with his friends was bathing in the river, said one of his uncles Kajol.

He said locals rescued two others while Shimanto went missing. Later, divers recovered the body.

Shimanto`s family rushed him to Narayanganj 300- Bed Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Bringing an allegation of not providing treatment, the family members demonstrated at the hospital. Later, Narayanganj Model police controlled the situation.

Dr Jannatul Ferdous Laima of the hospital said, “Shimanto had died before he was taken to the hospital.”
